Yvonne M. Hernandez

Dr. Hernandez is a graduate of the Pharmacology Department. Currently, she is co-director of the Graduate Pharmacology course for pharmacology PhD and Master’s students and director of the Scientific Foundations II Module in the medical school Foundational Phase curriculum. She developed and co-directs the innovative EHR/electronic prescribing curriculum portion of the Medical Pharmacology Course. Until 2025, she served as Associate Dean for Preclinical Education in the School of Medicine and, before that, as Co-Chair of the Committee on Medical Education that oversees the SOM curriculum. In those capacities, she had major leadership roles in designing the SOM preclinical curriculum including developing new courses and multiple teaching exercises. She enjoys teaching and mentoring students and working with colleagues to create learning activities that enhance student education.
