Yuichiro Justin Suzuki

Dr. Suzuki’s laboratory seeks to understand the mechanisms of cardiovascular and neurological complications that occur subsequent to diseases caused by pathogens such as viruses. Viruses like HIV and COVID-19 virus possess viral membrane fusion proteins that could be released from the virus and amplify the adverse effects on cardiovascular and neurological systems. Such mechanisms may contribute to the development of diseases such as pulmonary arterial hypertension and Alzheimer’s disease. Dr. Suzuki’s research focuses on developing therapeutic strategies to reduce such complications associated with pathogenic diseases.
