Yousef M. Aljohani is transitioning into a postdoctoral fellow position at Georgetown University with background experience in biomedical research, specializing in aging neuropharmacology and neuronal plasticity. He studied PhD in Pharmacology and Physiology from Georgetown University, where his research focused on dysregulation of norepinephrine release in the aging brain. Yousef has expertise in radiolabeled neurotransmitter assays and electrophysiological techniques, which have contributed to significant advancements in understanding cognitive decline associated with aging.
Currently, Yousef is investigating the modulation of NMDA receptors, with implications for neurodegenerative disorders. His work has been published in leading journals and has earned him several grants and awards, including the Daniel T. O’Connor Young Investigator Travel Award, and MCGSO grant. He is passionate about mentoring students and fostering innovative therapeutic interventions for age-related cognitive decline.
