Research Interests: Mesolimbic Circuit, Learning, Experience-induced neuroadaptations, Plasticity, Neuropsychiatric Disorders

Education: New York University, B.S. Neural Science, 2020

About: Joyce is interested in understanding how experiences shapes susceptibility or resilience to common neuropsychiatric disorders, enabling one to form healthy adaptive behaviors or become trapped by maladaptive behaviors. From her undergraduate research until now, she has explored the impact of stress and early life adversity on remodeling the mesolimbic circuit. For her thesis work in Dr. Alexey Ostroumov’s lab, she is investigating the molecular, synaptic, and behavioral basis for how naturalistic reward learning translates into neuronal connections within distinct mesolimbic pathways.
