My research focuses on understanding how neuronal circuitry and its coupling modulate cognitive functions like decision-making and cognitive flexibility, particularly in neurodevelopmental and neuropsychiatric disorders. I am especially interested in how experience-driven synaptic and circuit modifications within the dopamine and norepinephrine system shape reward processing, motivation, and executive function. Additionally, I seek to explore the role of neocortical interneuron heterogeneity in regulating synaptic integration and network dynamics. To investigate these questions, I aim to integrate high-channel electrophysiology, computational analysis, and advanced circuit manipulation techniques—including optogenetics, chemogenetics, and neurotransmitter imaging—to dissect neural mechanisms underlying pathological behaviors and identify potential therapeutic targets.
