Daniil Berezhnoi

Dr. Berenzhnoi’s research focuses on on neurocircuitry changes in the motor cortex in progressive Parkinson’s disease mouse models. He work with in-vivo Ca-imaging in identified cortical neurons and also develops machine-learning methods of deep phenotyping to characterize changes in rodent locomotion and manipulatory behavior. Dr. Berenzhnoi received his PhD (2015) from Moscow State University, Dept. of Higher Nervous Activity, historically focused on
conditioned reflexes research. He then worked as a Senior Research Scientist in the field of behavioral pharmacology and neurochemistry at the Research Center of Neurology (Russia), which established his interest in the prodromal stages of Parkinson’s disease. In 2024, Dr. Berenzhnoi joined Dr. Chu’s lab with a diverse research background in neurochemistry and neurophysiology of PD. He is currently focused on linking progressive changes on the cellular level to the network dysfunction and earliest behavioral manifestations of the disease.
