Dr. Pak has been conducting research in the field of molecular mechanisms of synaptic plasticity and neurodegenerative diseases for the past 20 years. He earned his BA from Harvard University in Biochemistry and a PhD from the University of California at Berkeley in Molecular and Cell Biology. He was a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard Medical School and MIT Picower Center for Learning and Memory. Dr. Pak’s long-term interests focus on the cellular basis of learning and memory, as well as cognitive disorders arising from synaptic dysfunctions. Specific areas of interest are homeostatic plasticity, glutamate receptor trafficking, dendritic spine dynamics, and molecular mechanisms underlying Alzheimer’s disease and epilepsy.
