About:

Yousuf graduated from the George Washington University in 2023 with a major in Biology and Economics. He then completed a Master’s in Pharmacology at Georgetown University, where he joined the Golestaneh Lab to investigate the use of Fenofibrate as a potential treatment for dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a neurodegenerative disease of the retina for which there is no treatment. Using a mouse model with impaired mitochondrial dysfunction, Yousuf employed techniques such as optical coherence tomography to measure the protective effect of Fenofibrate on the integrity of retinal and photoreceptor layers.
