     Introduction to Pharmacology

  BOOK:   Rang & Dale's Pharmacology - 6TH ED

This minicourse presents an overview of some important aspects of pharmacology. It begins with basic principles of pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics.  There is topical coverage of Neuropharmacology, including the autonomic nervous system and the central nervous system and diseases and disorders assoicated with neuronal dysfunction.   Cardiovascular pharmacology, hypertension and the central control of autonomic function is also discussed.  It is recommended that the student also take Physiology 584 which is an Introduction to Physiology.  This course is a valuable prerequisite.
